Is he worried about the wrong things?

Kanye Omari West has been called many things... a genius, prodigy, revolutionary, and even crazy. With the release of his latest album titled 808's and Heartbreak we take another close look into the life of Mr. West once again. He is known for wearing his heart on his sleeve, and letting it all hang out. But Kanye's insanity is begginning to show... Every genius has their breakdown, and I believe the loss of the only women he cared about may have gotten to him.
Mr. West suffered the loss of his mother, Donda West last November, and broke things off with his two year fiancee Alexis Phifer in April. Then, Kanye's releasing of singles like Heartless, I put on, and Love Lockdown had his public wondering if he may have crossed over to the dark side with 808s and Heartbreak.
Kanye still needed to put out some solid hits, before releasing such genius tracks. It's important to establish yourself first, if you want to have mainstream longevity. Kanye's core following will find it hard to support their favorite rapper when he's putting out hits that appeal to another audience, and have a whole new sound, far different from the Kanye were all used to. Only time will tell what our favorite college dropout has in store for us...

I think kanye's loss has definitely affected his state of mind in a way that shows through his music. He often refers to the loss of his mother in many of the songs that he has released himself, or that he has been a part of. Before the loss of this mother, Kanye released numerous songs with a unique style that was his own. He wrote and produced songs that expressed different views he had about different aspects of life which, as a result, brought him monumental success. After his mother died however, his style went from refreshingly original, to strange and confusing.Kanye is a highly respected lyricist and producer but he starting to cross the line from brilliant to crazy.

Musicians often get personal on at least one album. Usher with Confessions and Here I stand, Jay-Z with the Black Album etc. Kanye was bound to go deep sooner or later and I think the death of his mother rushed the delivery. 808's and Heartbreak isn't his greatest CD but compared to a lot of others it isn't exactly garbage. It is the number one album to date and has sold more than I am...Sasha Fierce. Heartless is crack, it's honest and the beat is ridiculous. I don't think he's crossed the line yet but then again he was never the most sane guy in the industry. He probably just needs some time off to mourn but he's droppin mad albums and doing features all the time. He needs to "drive slow homie".

Just like anyone, the loss of Kanye's mother has affected him.
It seems like things has changed in his life. From the breaking up with his fiance to his new album. His style has changed. I'm used to hearing him rap, not sing. I don't know if it was his mother's death that influenced him to change his music, but I was surprised. Just like when I heard Musiq's song, Radio. Although it shocked me, I still like his music. Kanye is still my second best rapper.

Personally i like and appreciate Kanye's music. He always puts his all into and talks about issues people can relate to. Most music is based off of real life experiences so why should this newest album reflect anything different. Yes he lost his mother and fiance in the same year and that is enough to depress someone it just so happened that he was the number 1 artist when this occurred.

As much as I agree with you all on the talent of Kanye West, at the end of the day we must not forget that he is a businessman, and a brand name. He has accomplished many things in his career because of his strategic thinking and marketing. Should he blow all of that away, by completely changing his style and sound now? Its only his senior album, he should still have many more hits to validate his status in the music industry before he begins to bare his soul in this way. I feel as though he put out a little too much, a little too soon. I was uneffected when I saw a little bit of his insanity, but I believe alot of these songs should've been released on a DJ Clue mixtape somewhere.
