Is Michelle O. the next Jackie O. ?

Jacqueline Kennedy was known as the original first lady that brought high fashion to white house. Jacqueline Onassis is forever remembered to be a fashion icon and a fair first lady... Is Michelle O the next Jackie O? Let me know! Reports have said when touring the white house, like any other prospective house buyer Mrs. Obama was very interested to know how much closet space she'd receive? Do we have a Carrie Bradshaw in the white house? Will her shoe closet surpass the capacity of the white house library? Comments?!

For those of you who do not know... Miss Jackie O., as she was referred to, was the wife of the 35th president, John F. Kennedy, until his assassination in 1963. Mrs. Kennedy was of a very well upbringing, while her family was known to have boasted of an even nobler background. Her clear upfront role in the election of J.F.K. took the world by storm. No longer was the first lady, a shadow and arm candy for the president. Jacqueline wrote a weekly column known as Campaign Wife, signed autographs, did public appearances, commercials, interviews, and even had her own secretary to help her with such. Setting the mold for what future first ladies will soon be. She was not only young and attractive, but intelligent and cultivated, and possessed an innate sense of style and elegance, that brought something new to the table that her predecessors could not offer.

Jacqueline Kennedy was a sharp woman indeed. She made the first couple complete in the 1960s. JFK was so well liked that his wife being an icon in the American history was almost inevitable. She charmed not only people of the high class. But African-American women looked up to her as well. Staying strong through her widow years and dealing with the assisination of her husband created an image in Jackie most American women would like to portray. Michelle Obama is quite impressive however I feel like she will be the first mom instead of the first lady. She gives off that motherly sense when she talks. I believe she'll give a new mindset to the American people when they think of a black family. Her being an educated Juris Doctor I believe she'll be more involved in the positive change process then we may be aware of so early on. Michelle Obama is something like Corretta and Sojourner ,just plain tough.

I would have to disagree and say that Jackie O was simply too educated and trained for her not to become involved in the democratic processes and eventually a public icon. She too, was very focused on keeping her children safe, well-grounded, and out of the public eye. She had so much input on the Kennedy administration's decisions that I could only compare her to Mrs. Obama. Michelle is an ivy league graduate with several accomplishments of her own. Who knows what she has up her sleeve? But being a housewife, surely can not be one of them; after all she is the first 'sister' in office.
